Cottage Features
Lancaster Cottage is a beautiful 17th Century thatched cottage that is tucked away in the picturesque village of North Crawley in Buckinghamshire (approximately 47 miles from London Heathrow Airport). The cottage is about 300 years old and was home to poet and gardener, the late James John Lancaster, widely known as Jim Lancaster in the North Crawley area. He fondly referred to the Cottage as 'The Old Thatched Cot' while he served in the British Forces in Burma and other parts of South East Asia. Lancaster Cottage is a perfect romantic getaway in an attractive countryside atmosphere!
It has two entrances via – a front door in the front and a stable door at the rear. Lancaster Cottage is adorned with beautiful exposed wooden beams and set on two levels. Both levels have been enhanced and tastefully decorated to provide modern amenities and lovely living spaces. The ground level hosts the lounge/living room, dining room, bath room, and the kitchen. The living and dining rooms are elegantly decorated with lovely furniture and exquisite Persian rugs. The living room has an enticing cottage suite to relax along with a TV/DVD player for entertainment! A wood burner is also located in the living room for aesthetics. The dining room has a nice cottage style dining table to comfortably seat four people. An electric fire burner is available to keep the warmth. A book case stocked with interesting books and games is also available. The dining room leads to the kitchen at the back.
The kitchen work surfaces are lined with clean black granite countertops. The kitchen is fully furnished for self catering with a microwave, refrigerator, and dish washer.
The bathroom is tiled white and well fitted with a shower over the bath tub. The bathroom also includes a wash basin, toilet, and a heated towel rail. Both the kitchen and bathroom provide a view of the barn.
The entry to the top level is via the staircase between the living and dining rooms. The top level accommodates two bedrooms - the main bedroom with a double bed and the other bedroom decked with exposed wooden beams and two twin beds. Both bedrooms have comfortable beds with beautiful bed linen as well as wardrobes, hanging rail, and chest of drawers for your use.
Lancaster Cottage also has an enclosed garden laid to lawn with flowerbeds all around and a rockery on one side! The garden is furnished with outdoor furniture to relax and enjoy the views of the 13th century St. Firmin’s church and the surroundings! The garden itself provides a wide splash of color through displays of gorgeous roses, clematis, daisies, and peonies, some of them being original plantings by the late Jim Lancaster himself. The wash house is located in the garden and hosts the washer and freezer.
Lancaster Cottage as well as its garden premises are strictly smoke-free and pet-free facilities.
A lockable gate controls access to the parking area for 2 cars.
